Setting: Sometime in the not-so-distant future
Name: Connor Waite
Age: 36
Alias: Agent Utah
Nationality: Spanish-American
Appearance: Utah stands at 6’6” and maintains a healthy weight and fitness. His focus on close-quarters combat well-toned and nimble, but scarred in many places. A large scrape-like scar across his right cheek prevents his light brown beard from growing in that area, so he keeps his facial hair to a minimum, usually allowing it to have a little bit of length around his mouth. He has tan skin and brown hair, revealing his Spanish side of the family influenced his appearance more than his English side.

Personality: Utah plays the straight man to Cal’s energetic foil on the battlefield. He’s cool, collected and difficult to upset. Every move he makes is deliberate and predetermined. He doesn’t cope well with sudden changes in plans and will often refuse to deviate from his initial plans even if the odds become overwhelming. Despite hating change and spontaneity, he found himself utterly infatuated with Agent California for reasons he himself doesn’t understand.
When off the battlefield, Utah comes off as apathetic, but considerate, often feigning interest in conversations and problems he could really care less about. He is considered the go-to guy when something goes wrong or an argument breaks out as he usually has a neutral opinion and despite obviously not caring, will provide help. The only exception to this seems to be Cal, for whom he drops whatever he’s doing to aid, even for trivial problems.

Freelancer Story: Utah never really cared much for combat, the military, or his squadmates. He was dispassionate, but a hard worker. When asked about why he joined the military in the first place, he simply responded that he didn’t have anything better to do. Eventually he took a liking to hand-to-hand combat and specialized in getting up-close and personal with his opponents. He finally found something he was prideful of, but had yet to find something to be passionate about. Enter Agent California. After their first couple of missions together, he requested that he remain on her team, eventually becoming infatuated with the strange woman.

Specialization: Close-quarters combat

Armour: Cobalt blue with yellow accents

Armour Enhancement: Utah’s armor is equipped with an electro-magnetic burst that activates when he suffers a considerable blunt force trauma, usually when getting hit with a particularly hard punch, kick, or the concussive blas from a grenade. His armor is insulated to reduce the effects on his person, although it is not perfect. It is designed to incapacitate anything within a two-meter radius while he recovers from the blow.

AI: Pi, Alpha’s anxiety and Utah’s main source of self-doubt.

Preferred Weapons and Fighting Techniques: Shotguns and his own fists. Utah specializes in close-quarters, hand-to-hand combat with a ‘the more the merrier’ attitude toward opponents. He finds that most enemies rely on their weapons so much that getting inches from their face usually results in panic and inevitably, their defeat.

Backstory: Utah was always a good soldier. He did what he was asked, and got his objectives done in a timely and efficient manner. Eventually he was selected for the Freelancer project and then the AI project. He spent several missions with Agent California and despite her cold demeanor at first; he came to fall for her after she began to warm up to him. {Bah, backstories… they’re for people with fanfictions.}
